Subject to the location and size of the rodent infestation, we will place baited traps and/or anticoagulant rodenticides to tackle the initial issue, this will require a minimum of two site visits. Once the rats or mice have been dealt with, we will then advise you on how best to keep your property or business free of future rodent infestation.
RATS
There are two types of rats in the UK although nearly all infestations in the Buckinghamshire area are from the Brown Rat (Rattus norvegicus). Rats are very well adapted to live both outdoors and indoors; they are intelligent and cautious allowing them to become very well established within a short period of time.
Rats are carriers for over 45 different types of diseases including Leptospirosis (Wells Disease), Salmonella, E. coli, dysentery and enteritis.
Like most mammals, a rat will need three things to survive…water, shelter and of course food. As part of our control plan, Hemingford Pest Control will provide comprehensive recommendations on how to ensure that rats have no access to at least one out of the three requirements, therefore reducing the risk of further rodent issues.
MICE
Smaller and less intelligent than their larger cousins, mice are no less a problem once established in your home or business. With access to food and left undisturbed, a breeding female can produce up to 200 offspring per year, which in turn will breed; producing many, many more litters.
The House Mouse (Mus musculus) is one of the most destructive pests known to man, second only to the rat; creating damage to building, cables, and communication equipment as well as contaminating stored food, crops and animal feeds.
